The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center has been leading the fight against cancer for more than 60 years. Located on the Texas Medical Center campus, it is devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education, and prevention. Part of the University of Texas System, the tertiary-care hospital helps nearly 75,000 patients annually with their battles against cancer; the center provides both inpatient and outpatient care. Not only does M. D. Anderson treat patients with the disease, it also helps develop new weapons against it with its extensive research facilities and faculty. Additionally, the hospital is a teaching facility for medical professionals and researchers.
