Journeymen Plumbers needed for Major Hospital
Journeyman Plumber with current medical gas endorsement and backflow certification needed. SUMMARY: Function: Provides skilled plumbing work of the journeyman level in the installation, maintenance, and repair of domestic water, steam, natural gas, sewer, compressed air, vacuum, medical gases, and other utilities systems. Responsible for various specifically assigned plumbing duties issued orally or by written instructions. May be responsible for the supervision of all plumbing and piping quality and production. Scope: Installs, maintains, and repairs water, air, gas, sewer, and steam lines and systems. Cuts and threads pipe. Understands the use of threading machines, water units. Repairs and cleans sewer pipes. Direct supervision of lesser skilled mechanics and any other assigned workers. Supervises and inspects jobs on completion for compliance to work requests. Sees that the installation functions properly and that the area is left in proper condition. Requisitions material and maintains inventories. Develops plans and specifications and cost estimates for repairs, alterations, and construction projects. Prepares and submits reports. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Craft Skills - To display the professionalism and advanced craft skills indicative of the year's experience required by this position, and outlined in the job description. 2. Execution of assignments in such a way as to maximize shop efficiency, as well as to insures client satisfaction. 3. Time Management Skills - Prioritizing work in such a way as to maximize efficiency. Productivity as indicated by average task completion per work period. Follow-up as required insuring job completion. 4. Learns and understands departmental policies and procedures and carries them out through proper responses and quality outcomes on utility failures, drills, and emergencies. Demonstrated competence in the proper assembly and disassembly of floodgates. Demonstrated competence in putting into service alternate utility sources. EMP Forms, as required per event type and severity level, are accurately filled out and submitted on time. Inspection checklists and incident reports are accurately filled out and submitted on time. 5. Client Interaction - Communication with client as appropriate throughout job cycle. Overall professionalism when dealing with clients. Attention to special instructions, or concerns as specified by client. Follow-up with client as necessary to insure satisfaction. EDUCATION: Required: High School diploma or equivalent, and completion of a recognized apprenticeship. EXPERIENCE: Required: Ten years journeyman level plumbing experience. Current medical gas endorsement and backflow certification Preferred: Related building maintenance experience gained at UTMDACC. Five years related supervisory experience. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Required: Licensed as a State Journeyman Plumber.
